Sustainability in the Pharmaceutical sector
30/01/2025
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a call for action to drive sustainability in the pharmaceutical sector, entitled “Greener pharmaceuticals’ regulatory highway”. This initiative includes key proposals for standards and guidance that will promote new sustainable processes for manufacturing, quality control, packaging, and distribution.
ALS has been implementing several measures over the last few years to develop greener laboratory practices and techniques across the world in our GMP laboratories.
Our expert teams are helping clients over the world designing sustainable solutions and eco-friendly processes on their labs, including:
- ALS owned Solar PV systems installed across locations in Australia, Sweden, England, Denmark at ALS Pharmaceutical locations;
- In Mexico, collecting plastic waste in support of the recycling campaign De Litro a Techo. Campaign participants collect, wash and compact composite aseptic containers, which are collected and recycled by the CADENA Foundation;
- Optimization of Analytical Methods optimization under sustainability principles;
- Development of Animal-free Bacterial Endotoxins testing;
- Antimicrobial resistance studies development.
We want to join forces with you
in your sustainability endeavours!
